Brooklyn Stair Railings is a custom metal shop, and we build for the first second you grab hold. A railing is judged by how solid it feels under your hand, and a wobbly one you never really trust again. Most of the railings we get called out to fix aren't ugly, they're loose: a stoop rail that rocks a little in its masonry, an interior run that gives when you lean on it coming down the stairs with an armful of groceries. We work in wrought iron, mild steel, stainless 316, and aluminum, with cable or tempered-glass infill where the design wants it. Every piece is cut, formed, TIG- or MIG-welded, and ground smooth in our own shop, then field-measured to your stair down to the fraction of an inch. Nothing snap-together, nothing off a big-box shelf.

Brooklyn throws a lot at a railing. We've templated prewar walk-up staircases where no two treads sit at the same height, brownstone stoops where the original ironwork is worth restoring rather than ripping out, and exterior runs right beside the fire escape that have to shrug off twenty winters of freeze-thaw and road salt. On anything outdoors, the finish is where the money is well spent: hot-dip galvanizing or a baked-on powder coat is the difference between welds that bleed rust in five years and a railing your grandkids can lean on. And if you're in a co-op or a two-family, we build to code from the first cut, with 42-inch guards, balusters a 4-inch sphere can't slip through, and graspable handrails at the right height, so the board or the inspector signs off without a fight. Getting that right up front saves everyone a headache later.
